Hello, I'm Elena

Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.

A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually unfolded into a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Spain wasn’t in the original plan. Like many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and rapidly grew into something far larger.

The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt tougher than they should.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and started building something that felt steady.

Why I Built KindRiverStudio

Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.

This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Spain.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site is:

  • Practical know-how from living in Spain
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever there is a real change

This site isn't:

  • Not a tourism-board resource
  • Sponsored review platform
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.

If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Cheers,

Elena
